What to do...Where to go...

Well it's that time of year again...Summer vacation. I have been taking Brett on vacation for his birthday for about the last 4 years. His birthday is in May. A five day vacation ends up costing me about the same as a birthdy party for 10-20 kids. You can say that Brett is definately a little traveler. So, if anyone has ideas please feel free to share them with me.

I tried to do Disneyworld but I need to save a little more to be able to do everything I want to do like Seaworld and Busch Gardens. The hotel comes out cheaper for 7 days but I can't afford 7 days worth of activities!!!

We go to the Charleston, SC every year but I also like to do one other adventure. Last year we traveled to Minnesota to visit family. We had a absolute blast!!! We visited a waterpark, my aunts farm, and Mall of America among other things. The Mall was amazing not for just all the stores but there was plenty to keep little Brettster busy for 8 hours. That alone is fantastic!

Thought I would share some of our pics-hope you enjoy...the ones with Jimmy Neutron and Spongebob are my favorite!! His reaction and facial expressions were priceless.

Thursday 13-Mighty M

1. Mama-It's what I am and what I do!!
2.Monopoly-question? Has anyone ever truly finished a game of Monopoly?
3.Margaritas-salt the rim and give me night out with my girlfriends! Good times!!
4.Mexican-my favorite food...I could eat it everyday :)
5.Mammogram-Don't forget once a year ladies! Wanna keep those ta-ta's in tip top shape!!
6.Menstrual Cycle-NOT my favorite "time of the month!"
7.Menopause-I'm with Alicia on this one. The majority of the ladies I work with are going thru it. It's like hot, cold, happy, sad.
8.Monograms-ok I may get some flack for this-I think monogramming is very cute but sometimes it can be a little much. I think one monogrammed outfit a week is cute but not every outfit...just my opinion :)
9.Minnesota Vikings- My awesome family is from Minnesota. We were born little Vikings, and it is expected that we will always be Viking fans. There is no trade option in the White house.
10.Marriage-allergic
11. M&M's-my favorite candy. Only like the plain or peanut with milk chocolate. None of that crunchy peanut butter mess.
12.Miracles- I have always believed in miracles but since blogging I truly believe even more!!!
13.Milk-does a body good...pass it on...

Not exactly "wordless" wednesday!!

My grandma and aunt visited last week from Minnesota. I love them soo much and we always have a great time together. Now I miss them :( The fella there is my daddy, and I'm sure you recognize those adorable little people in the bottom pic from 3 B's and Me!!

O.k.-so I got tagged during The Flu season here at the white house. Hope there is no time limit on responding. Thanks Leash for thinking of me!!
Step 1: Respond and re-work - answer the questions on your own blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.
Step 2: Tag - four other un-tagged people. It's just for fun, if your at work like me and don't have access to any recent picture's. Those I'm tagging and challenging is - Traci, Melissa, Mimi, and Brooke.
1) What and where do you work for a living? I work for an Optometry practice as the lab supervisor. Love my job and the girls I work with. My little family away from home. Yep we can fight like sisters but we love each other like sisters too :)
2) If you could spend one day with a male celebrity - whom would it be and why? I know in some parts of the world this guy would not be considered a celebrity but I would love to spend a day with Dale Earnhardt Jr. (stop laughing) he just looks so laid back, seems like you could kick back and enjoy a cold one with him. Yea and I met him and got so choked up that I made this weird gagging noise, and well he was really nice and just laughed at me. Need to redeem myself!3) Do you nap a lot? Here lately I have been napping more than usual. Health issues...blah blah blah.
4) Who is the last person you hugged? I make it a point for Brett to be the first and last person I hug each day...me love him
5) What websites do you visit when you go online? Facebook, blogger, ebay, google various topics on my brain for the day, and the Bank (checkin on my millions!!:)
6) What was the last item you bought? I bought groceries which consisted of salad items and ice cream bars...go figure!?!
7) Say you have an emergency right this minute and you need someones ear to listen, who would be your list of attempted calls and in what order? Depends-but most of the time my best friend Chris is my anchor...he just knows without asking and he never cuts me off when I rant...and well he agrees with me even when we both know I am wrong!! Alicia would be next on my list but we talk at each other not too each other...She laughs I laugh, she cries I cry. Southern women we are...
8) If you woke up tomorrow and were your husband,bf or a boy what is the first thing you would do and why? Well hmm- I don't have a husband or a boyfriend but I do have a boy. So I would probably stumble to the bathroom-no I think I would step out the back door and just pee then I would wanna go back to being a girl. The whole peeing out of a zipper with no inhibitions thing has always peaked my curiosity.
9) Has a celebrity's hair cut ever influenced your own hairstyle? I always wanted Meg Ryans shaggy doo.
10) What is your most memorable moment? I will never ever forget walking back down the NICU hallway to go sit with my newborn who was born a "blue baby." I remember stopping in the hallway all alone and praying out loud "God-please just let this baby live and I promise I will love him every minute of everyday. Please please please don't take him from me." God was with me, I literally felt him embrace me and I knew from then on Brett was going to be o.k. I can honestly say I have kept my promise.
11) What was the last movie you watched? I watched "Knocked Up" last night. Took a break from "Twilight":)
12) If you had a whole day to yourself with no work, commitments, or interruptions what would you do? I would hop in a boat and troll around the lake with my Brett and my bestie.
13) Do you like scary movies? I do not nor have I ever liked scary movies. I have never even seen Friday the 13th. Don't care for blood and gore.
14) What would you want your last meal to be? I'm not real picky and well I love food, but I would hope I was surrounded by the people I love.
15) What is a personal goal you are currently working on? I am trying so hard to stay positive. I have a lot of health problems right now but I also have a lot of wonderful people in my life that have literally carried me, helped me laugh thru tears, and held my hand through some unbearable lupus and RA flare ups. That is love folks!!
16)What is the last thing you think about before falling asleep? Here lately it is really important that God knows how thankful I am and that I question absolutely nothing he has in store for me. I have been truly humbled by his grace and presence in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you have been my thoughts lately.

I like boys that sparkle...

I just got done watching Twilight for the first time. I am in love. I'm not a big movie watcher but I am going to be a huge Twilight watcher. I blew thru the first 3 books in a week. I am now reading Breaking Dawn and have SLOWLY been reading it for the past month. I have a rule that I only read during baseball practice. Why you may ask? I just simply do not want it to end!! Funny part is this series was geared more toward the teenage dynamic yet I can have hour long conversations with most of my 20-30 yr old girlfriends. Anyway enough rambling...I think I may need some help I think the dishes will dirty in the sink, the laundry will begin to smell, and my son may suffer from malnutrition. I am going to watch this movie over and over and over. You gals remember Dirty Dancing and how you could recite every line in the movie and no matter how many times you watched it, it felt like the first time all over again. Even now I see DD on TBS and I will watch commercials and all. Yep I was watching the movie and got this warm fuzzy feeling for Edward and well hell I don't get warm fuzzy feelings from any members of the male species. Yes I know we are talking about make believe vampires and an actor but there is this fascination factor. Please if I go missing do not come looking for me as my willpower has weakened and I am going to find Edward. Dern I guess I have to find something to do with Bella! I realize my hormones are screaming GIVE UP ON MAKE BELIEVE AND GO FIND YOURSELF A REAL MAN!!! Only problem is I can put Edward back in his case when I get tired of him:)

Check yes or no

Before nodding off Brett and I usually lay and talk about our day, baseball, starwars, or whatever else is on Bretts mind. Well ladies tonight I found out that LOVE is in the air for little Brettster. Out of nowhere Brett asks "Mama, how do you know if a girl likes you?" I knew this was a very important question for Brett and that it took courage to ask it so I wanted to make sure I got the answer just right. After a few questions of my own I found out that her name is Haley and she draws pictures of butterflies for Brett that say To: Brett From: ? . The part that is perplexing Brett though is that here lately everytime she talks to him she cocks her head to the side and blinks real fast. (mind you I'm trying to keep a straight face duringf all of this!) Brett says that all his boy friends are telling him that Haley likes him so he thought he would draw her a picture back but can't quite decide if he should draw a dinosaur or a droid from starwars because those are two things he draws really well. He also informed me she laughs at all his jokes but he is slowly running out of jokes. He can't ask her if she likes him because he is afraid he may not spell all the words correctly in his letter and well he sure can't ask her face to face. The poor little fella just had this look of dread across his face. (Of course I was already heading for a piece of paper and pen in which I was gonna write the ole check yes or no letter myself.) Brett then informs me that it's ok, he will ask her himself in due time. Right now he is just gonna keep things like they are because she brings him cheesey pretzel twist everyday for lunch. He doesn't want to do anything to upset her because he loves those cheesy pretzel twist. Moral of this story ladies-even at eight years old the way to a mans heart is truly through his stomach!! P.S. I'll keep everyone updated with any further details :)

New kid on the Blog

Most of the people that are close to me will tell you I am not a phone talker and I am usually the last to respond to an e-mail, and even when I do respond it is short and sweet. I will also admit I am a blog stalker. I really enjoy reading about other people and their children. I will laugh at a strangers 2 year old and cry with someone I have never laid eyes on. So when I recieved a computer for my birthday I thought "why not?" I hope people will get as much enjoyment out of my daily grind as I get out of theirs...

I guess it would only be proper to formally introduce myself. My name is Jennifer and I have an eight year old son Brett. It is just the two of us and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have never been married probably due to the fact that I was born with a missing gene...yea the bride gene. I count myself lucky as God has granted me with such serenity in my life. With every bad he has always given me a good. Before Brett came along I didn't know compassion and humility and just an awe inspiring love for another person as I do now.
